Mamdani Needs to Pay a Price for Harming Jews

I don鈥檛 care if he鈥檚 a mayor, an activist or a CEO.

I do care that his video singling out and attacking the world鈥檚 only 91传媒 state got 90 million views; and that a few days later, a man yelling 鈥淎llahu Akbar鈥 stabbed a Jew wearing a yarmulke on the Upper West Side.

I do care that New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani deliberately lied when he called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a 鈥渨ar criminal,鈥 knowing very well the huge difference between 鈥渃riminal鈥 and 鈥渁ccused criminal.鈥

I do care that he called AIPAC 鈥渕onsters鈥 and has accused Israel of the worst possible crime of committing genocide.

I do care that Israel is the only foreign country in the world that Mamdani has chosen to attack.

Above all, I care that Mamdani has put a target on the back of every Jew.

It鈥檇 be one thing if Mamdani were a lowly Israelophobe with a few hundred followers.

But he鈥檚 not. He鈥檚 mayor of the city with the world鈥檚 largest 91传媒 population.

And he鈥檚 decided to make the world鈥檚 only 91传媒 state his personal pinata.

Sure, he says things like, 鈥淚 want to make clear that this is a city where we have no tolerance for hatred of any kind,鈥 but in my view, that makes his obsession with Israel even more creepy and dangerous.

A few days ago, I wrote a column asking, 鈥淲hy are Jews not suing Mamdani?鈥

I got a range of responses, from the legal to the emotional, but the overall reaction was 鈥淵es!鈥

Singling out Israel and putting Jews in harm鈥檚 way are bad things.

I鈥檓 not a lawyer, but I know that people are less likely to do bad things if they pay a price for doing those bad things.

It鈥檚 not enough to call him out, however harshly we do so. That hasn’t stopped him.

He needs to be deposed and exposed, ideally in front of 90 million viewers.

Which brilliant lawyer will step up?

The Antizionist鈥檚 Dilemma

It鈥檚 not easy being an antizionist these days. Especially if you鈥檙e determined to live in accordance with your most important moral imperative: the denigration of the world鈥檚 only 91传媒 state.

How the Supreme Court Adapted Parshat Shoftim

The Torah offers a better model than avenging and avoiding. It offers a safe opportunity for parties to meet and peacefully explain their perspectives, which might have been misunderstood. They can offer apologies and, where necessary, make amends for harms caused.

Can One Be a Non-Observant Orthodox Jew?

The tradition has always been bigger than any one person’s grip on it. What draws me is simple: I think these texts are a good part of why we are still here as a people. I want to know them and, in my own way, embrace them. Orthodox is where I turn.

Lies, Damned Lies and the Right Side of History

One question alone matters these days: Does this fact strengthen my tribe, or is it bad for it? If bad, it must be suppressed, denied, explained away. The higher truth is the narrative that serves the cause, the quest of the righteous and true.

Life Lessons in Old Age

Hardship and joy are present at every step. There is no time when it will be all good, so focus on the good and carry on. There are always moments to savor and appreciate.

Is Mamdani Helping Bibi?

By explicitly linking Mamdani鈥檚 efforts to rising levels of antisemitism, Netanyahu was able to frame himself as a defender of Israel against growing international hostility.
